Voter’s biometric registration to become compulsory in Philippines

According to website Newsbytes Philippines, President Benigno Aquino III of Philippines has passed a law -known as Republican Act n. 10367- that makes biometric registration of all voters mandatory. Registered voters will not be able to vote in the 2016 elections unless they submit their biometric data from July onward, while new voters will have to provide their biometric data during their registration.
The Electoral Commission of Philippines estimates that around 9 million voters still have to comply with this new law.
