Financial institution in Mexico to replace passwords with voice recognition

Santander Bank of Mexico has announced that it will begin to phase out the use of passwords in its telephone banking services in favor of a voice recognition system. The move will make Santander the first Latin American bank to offer this high-security service.

According to Marcos Martinez, Executive President of the Santander Financial Group, this system means clients will no longer have to use numerical pins and passwords to access the telephone banking system. Moreover, having a hoarse voice or being congested will not affect the system’s ability to recognize a user’s voice because the records are specific to each person and cannot be imitated.
