Canadian auto insurance fund adopts biometrics for authentication

The Provincial Auto Insurance Fund from Saskatchewan, Canada will implement facial recognition and image capture solutions to further improve security and protect citizens against fraud.

The facial recognition software will help protect Saskatchewan residents from identity theft as well as prevent people from registering for multiple licenses and/or identification cards.

Currently, Saskatchewan and Quebec are the only Canadian provinces that are not using facial recognition software in their driver’s licensing programs.

The Fund has given all interested firms until February 13, 2015 to submit their proposals for the facial recognition services.
