Biometrics being used to identify minors looking for work

A Taiwanese company is using facial biometrics technology in its recruitment process to prescreen job candidates so they can reduce the likelihood of employing minors.

The system was introduced in response to the ongoing problem of underage workers in China.

The minimum age to contract a worker in China is 16 years. It is hoped that the introduction of the facial recognition biometrics system will reduce the employment of workers who do not reach the minimum legal age.
