Artists and the general public alike used a new system of biometric payment at the UK’s Festival Number 6 in Portmeirion, Wales. The registration process involved pre-registering online and an on-site biometric component.
The pre-registration took place on the festival’s website, where interested parties could enter their payment data. Once at the festival, individuals showed photo identification and submitted biometric data, which was then linked to the payment card.
“This takes about 15 seconds and they can pay with their fingers,” said Nick Dryden, the CEO of Sthaler, the company that managed the system. Around 300 people were able to use this method of biometric identification using the veins in their finger.
